Wrong quiz problem

Added by Mark Goessens 523 days ago

Hi all,

I installed jquarks succesful. But now at my seventh question I have a problem.
When I click on this 'quiz' I receive, as always, the message: 'You have chosen to take the quiz : ... ' But then he shows the wrong quizname.
When I click 'Proceed to quiz' I receive a 404 error.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
I checked for many times if I assigned the good question. I've done exactly the same like I've done at the other questions.
I don't know if it's necessary, but I also checked if the ID numbers where the same. I also tried to unpublish the other questions. But the problems shows up everytime.

I hope this is a bug I can solve quickly. Maybe someone can give me good advice.

Greets, Mark

Hi, Mark: I don't know if this will help, but I had the same problem and actually, there were two DIFFERENT causes at different times. #1: get to the quiz where it shows the "Time Allotted." There (in our case) is an actual number in the URL part--when you get to the actual quiz, there is no number in the URL. Anyway, copy and paste the URL from the one with a number in the URL. I'm not sure how you link the quiz, we do it as an external link. The other cause for us was that the "alias" name was being filled in automatically and was giving the same alias to different pages; I set it NOT to complete automatically (that may have been a "my computer" error as opposed to Joomla or JQuarks). Hope this helps, DJ

Hi DJ,

Thanks a lot for your great answer.
I have to say, I don't exactly understand what you mean. Maybe it's because my English is not very good.

With your first point, I assume you mean by 'number' the quiz 'ID' The number of the 'rampage question' is '12'. That's the ID which is given in the URL and at the administrator part of jquarks. You say that I have to copy and paste that URL. But what do I have to do after that? You're right that there is no ID-number in the link when I go to the actual quiz.

With your second point, I don't know what you mean by 'alias' Where do I have to assign this in Joomla, to don't set it automatically?

Again, many thanks for your patients. I think your answer will help me a lot.

I will try, Mark. After the quiz is done and ready to be put on the menu, you click on menu item for where it is to go: click "new"; "external link," complete the title and ALIAS (here's the alias--I fill this in every time; if you don't the system will [just what I found anyway]); display link (this is where you insert the URL) and "parent" where it is to be placed.

Now, the url: when you open the quiz--first page says "You have chosen to take...." and the url is something like .../component/jquarks/quiz/4.html [see the #4 there?]--that's the url you want to copy. If you continue onto the actual quiz, the url is something like .../component/jquarks/quiz/index.php [see? no number].

Hope this helps--I'm just a novice myself, DJ

Thanks DJ, Now I understand what you mean.
Actually I did not externally link the quizzes, but publish en unpublish the different quizzes. So they were all accessible with one button 'quiz'
So I had nothing to do with external linknames.

But now I tried to do it in your way, and I discovered that this won't fix the problem either. The quizzes which work is quiznumber 1 till 6'. I took one of that URL's and changed it to quiznumber 12 (the quiz that doesn't work). I made an external link button in Joomla, and put that URL in it. (including the Alias name)
But I still have the same problem. The URL of quiznumber 12 redirects to quiz 1. The difference between those is that quiz 1 works, and quiz 12 gets a 404 error after the redirection.

So I still have the problems.

I am sorry it doesn't work; perhaps someone else can give you other suggestions.
