Possible improvements¶

Here some features that could make Share's search feature more powerful:

Auto-complete for Tags and Categories¶

In search forms, most properties are represented by simple text fields. It's not a big issue if it is the author or the title that you're querying, because internally we're using wildcards (*) for those ordinary properties.

But tags and categories, internally represented by cm:taggable and cm:classifiable, are special ones in the sens that we need to have their full names when generating the search query, otherwise you would simply have no match.

That's why we think that auto-complete capability is important, so that it would be easier for user to pick full names of categories and tags and increase search efficiency.

Date ranges¶

If you have date properties, "publication date" for example, and you want to perform a search by date, you may have forgotten the exact date of publication. So you'll get no match unless you specify the exact date of the documents you're looking for. That's why it is useful to be able to specify date ranges in search forms.
